About us
Larch & Lantern News reports on the everyday textures of Türkiye, from olive groves and mountain rail lines to pottery studios and field excavations. We write for readers everywhere who value patient, grounded regional journalism over daily breaking cycles. Every dispatch is checked against primary sources on the ground, precise local terminology, and measured observation.

Larch & Lantern News was founded to chronicle the quiet rhythms of life across Anatolia, Thrace, and the coastlines. Our reporting looks closely at the ways people cultivate orchards, restore limestone vaults, weave flatweaves, and board intercity ferries. We believe that everyday work, natural history, and material culture tell a deeper and more durable story of the country than the rush of daily headlines.
Our correspondents work from regional towns and port cities, taking the slow bus to highland pastures, walking excavation trenches alongside field conservators, and visiting family-run workshops. We focus on physical details: the exact wood used in a Black Sea fishing skiff, the cold spring water drawn for an orchard tea hearth, the particular angle of sun across a courtyard in early autumn. When we quote someone, we share their craft, their district, and their practical knowledge.
By design, we leave aside political disputes, parliamentary speeches, military actions, and diplomatic standoffs. Plenty of publications track breaking political controversies; our pages are reserved for stone, soil, water, transit lines, and community life. This deliberate quiet allows us to focus entirely on seasonal work, scientific research, wildlife habitats, and shared heritage across all seven regions.
Larchmere Press LLC publishes the digital newspaper from the United States with an editorial desk based in Istanbul and contributors across Türkiye. Readers, researchers, and craftspeople can reach our editorial team by email with story notes, corrections, and archival queries. We answer correspondence weekly and welcome accounts of local harvests, community sports, and conservation work.

What we cover — and what we do not
Our seven desks cover heritage and archaeology, travel, food and harvests, nature, arts and culture, science, and community sport. We deliberately leave hard politics, conflict and crime to outlets that specialise in them.
How we use technology
Some drafts and all illustrations on this site are prepared with the help of machine tools. Every published piece is reviewed and approved by a named editor, and every illustration is labelled “Illustration”. Details are in our editorial standards.
