When we get something wrong, we say so, fix it and note the change.

How to report an error
Email [email protected] with the headline, the passage in question and, if possible, a source that shows the correct information. Every request is logged and read by the standards editor.
What happens next
We acknowledge requests within two working days. If a factual error is confirmed, the article is corrected promptly and a dated note at the end explains what was changed. We do not silently alter published facts.
Clarifications and updates
Where a story was accurate but incomplete, we add a clarification. Where events moved on after publication, we add a dated update rather than rewriting the original text.
